Togetherness

17.08.2022 by William

1. Do you prefer:

  • Parties
  • Intimate get-togethers
  • Playdates
  • None of the above; they’re all overrated

While I can deal with crowds, the introvert in me much prefers a smaller event, so a small intimate get-together or a playdate is my preference. I’d rather have a conversation in smaller groups rather than being all overwhelmed.

2. What is your preferred bedtime?

  • What’s a bedtime?
  • Between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
  • Early to bed early to rise
  • Late night party animal and/or insomniac

I don’t really think I fit into any of those categories. I do prefer a later bedtime than 10pm, but then I’m not a party animal or insomniac. I just prefer the quiet of the evening, after the kids are asleep I can do as as I please, watch what I want, have adult time uninterrupted.

3. Do you and your significant other go to bed at the same time?

At the moment, no. One the kids insists on my Missus Sub going to bed much earlier than I. Not really sure, but while it is nice to be awake alone at night, it would be nice to spend time with Missus Sub at the same time.

4. Do you compliment your significant other? How often? Do they return the return the gesture?

Compliments are not one of my giving love languages. I do my best where I can though.

5. Do you and your significant other share:

  • More hobbies together than not
  • Less hobbies in common compared to all your hobbies
  • All hobbies– we like and do the same things
  • Nothing at all. We enjoy completely different hobbies.

We have one or two hobbies in common, but otherwise our hobbies generally don’t cross paths, except when Missus Sub craft supplies cross into my garage territory.

Bonus: Do you go walking on a regular basis with your significant other? Research says doing this activity together brings you closer.

It really would be nice to do things like this together, but the children aren’t interested in walking and they would complain, but we’d have to end up at some park with the playground, and unfortunately the kids won’t entertain themselves so we could observe from a distance walking in circles.

Mobile confessions

14.08.2022 by William

1. Does your smartphone have a grip on you? In one hour, how often do you check your phone?

  • a. I am glued to my phone. I check it every 1-2 minutes; it is satisfying.
  • b. I check it 1-2 times per hour.
  • c. I check my phone only when I get notifications, and I don’t get many.
  • d. I check at lunch time and at the end of the day mostly, unless I get a notification.

Unfortunately I have let my phone overpower me. I am generally somewhere between an a. and b. user. I’d probably check it every 5-10 minutes, especially when I’m not engrossed in something work related.

2. Israeli spyware Pegasus* marketed and sold to other governments is used to spy on activists, journalists, and political leaders. Do you believe hackers are monitoring your smartphone?

I personally don’t think I am interesting enough for the government to spy on me. However the claim by Google to say that they aren’t listening to the conversations I partake in does seem suspicious when 15-30 minutes after a conversation that I get targeted ads for related topics when browsing the web or in apps I’m using.

3. When in flight, on an airplane, do you put your phone in flight mode?

I don’t fly very often. But I prefer turning the device off, it is far less tempting when it is completely shut down than in flight mode.

4. What is the lock on your smartphone?

  • a. facial recognition
  • b. fingerprint
  • c. numerical code
  • d. pattern
  • e. I don’t lock my phone

I’m a numerical code person. But the code is based on patterns rather than the numbers. I don’t trust facial recognition, and I am contemplating removing the fingerprint that I have used in the past.

5. Do mobile phones interfere with your relationship(s)? How?

I certainly think that they have affected every relationship that I have had. They certainly cause me to be distracted most of the time and I’m always thinking that I am missing out on something, or that my phone vibrated with a notification. I wish I could get rid of the damn thing some days.

Dry thoughts

14.08.2022 by William

To date, I have published 30 posts here on the blog, and after a few weeks, my writing has dried up. I wish that I had a never ending supply of words and ideas to turn into blog posts or works of fiction.

I am trying not to stress to much about this dry patch of writing, but it is hard not to when those around you are publishing often and regularly.

Maybe I need to find some blog prompts that are more than a word or two. Maybe I need to work with TMI Tuesday and the questions that are posted for them. Prompting me with questions is probably the right way to go.

Internal battles

04.08.2022 by William

Life is a constant internal battle between wanting to improve and wanting to maintain the status quo. It frustrates me that the desire to stay as I am always wins, and also brags when I try to improve myself and make changes for the better which do not stay with me.

Many times I have written about these battles, on every blog I have ever started, both professional and private. I always end up in the same place, a desire to change myself and better myself, but I end up exactly where I am, without having moved my life forward. If anything life actually goes backwards.

So why am I telling you this? Previously I would say for support, but after a recent discussion with someone, I would now say because I am hoping to find someone who will commiserate with me. I doubt someone will agree with me because they know my thoughts are stupid. But it doesn’t stop me hoping.

It is clear that I need to change my thoughts to improve myself and actually make a difference to my life. However, right now why do I want to change when I just want someone to agree with me? I just don’t know.

I’m broken, mentally and physically, I have thoughts of changing my life but also a mind that wants to maintain the status quo. I do not like this constant battle within, but I do not know how to stop it.

I am willing to die if it means this internal battle will end, and it will stop haunting me forever.

Gauging up

28.07.2022 by William

Since I received my Prince Albert piercing, I have been wanting to increase the gauge of the ring that hangs from the end of my penis. I prefer the look of a slightly chunky ring, but not overly chunky as some Prince Albert owners have.

Where I was

I saw Mike from Infinity Piercing back in April to get my initial Prince Albert piercing. He inserted a 12G captive bead ring with a hoop diameter of 19mm. This is the minimum gauge that should be used for a Prince Albert piercing.

Where I am

As of this past weekend, I visited Mike again. The only suitable jewellery they had is a 10G horse shoe barbell with a hoop diameter of 13mm.

I could feel the stretch of the larger gauge. It was not uncomfortable, but you certainly know that it is stretching the hole.

While the 13mm hoop diameter is much smaller than the 19mm hoop diameter of the initial captive bead ring, it still works with my anatomy and where the piercing was placed in relation to my urethra opening. I do prefer the look of a larger hoop diameter ring.

Where I’m going

Right now, my ultimate goal is to eventually get to a 4G ring or horse shoe barbell. That is still a long way off as there is a minimum 3 months between stepping up to the next gauge jewellery.

The progress is:

  • 12G (was)
  • 10G (current)
  • 8G (step 1)
  • 6G (step 2)
  • 4G (goal)

There is at least 9 months until I reach 4G unless I have problems with any of the stretches. When I reach a 4G ring or barbell, I may decide to go even further, who knows.

How will I get there

I have placed an order for 3 captive bead rings, a 10G, 8G and a 6G. Each ring has a diameter of 19mm, the same as my initial piercing. I will work my way through the rings, spending approximately 3 months at each gauge before moving to the next size up.

One thing I had not thought about is the method for putting in a captive bead ring. I’m starting to wonder if I should have ordered the horse shoe barbells instead of rings. That may be a future purchase.
